Registering your domestic help with the Minijob-Zentrale is very easy online or by filling out and sending in the household cheque form. To make the process as easy as possible, we have put together the most important steps for you.
Requirements:
- Before registering your domestic help with the Minijob-Zentrale, you should ensure or, ideally, obtain written confirmation that they do not have any other mini-jobs and would not earn more than € 603 per month in total.
- Furthermore, you may only assign your domestic help tasks that fall within the scope of household-related services. In the broadest sense, these are tasks that could also be performed by persons in your own household – office cleaning, for example, is not a household-related service.
- Please note the following special features, such as the fact that you cannot register family members as mini-jobbers, that you must observe youth protection regulations for schoolchildren, and that certain requirements must be met for pensioners, students or foreign domestic helpers.
- Have your personal details ready, such as your bank details and tax number. It is best to fill out the form together with your domestic helper, as their personal details are also required.
quitt helps you with this. quitt takes care of registering and managing your domestic help.
Save time with the quitt employment service:
- Correct employment contract and registration of your cleaner with all authorities and insurance companies
- Monthly payslips and annual tax certificate (up to € 4,000 tax credit for you)
- Payment of all social security contributions, taxes and insurance premiums
- Also: administration of midijobs (for wages higher than € 603 or if the cleaner already has other mini-jobs)
- Includes € 30 starting credit with the code "Putzperle"
7 steps to registration
Step 1
Tick the box to indicate that this is a new registration and enter your personal details in the "Employer" section. Leave the "Company number" field blank if you are registering a mini-jobber for the first time. Otherwise, use the company number that has already been assigned to you. This company number should not be confused with the one assigned by the Federal Employment Agency for commercial purposes.
Step 2
Tick the box "Flat-rate tax" and enter your tax number (you can find this on your last tax assessment notice). This confirms that you wish to pay the less complex flat-rate tax instead of taxing the mini-jobber individually according to their income tax bracket.
Step 3
Enter the personal details of your domestic help. If you do not know their pension insurance number, leave the field blank and ensure that the other personal details are entered.
Step 4
At this point, confirm that your domestic helper does not have any other mini-jobs by leaving field 9 blank. This is a prerequisite for registering them on a mini-job basis. In most cases, your domestic help will be covered by social insurance through statutory health insurance, in which case you can also leave field 10 blank.
Step 5
Clarify with your domestic help whether they would like to pay compulsory contributions to the pension insurance scheme. These amount to 15% for employers. Mini-jobbers pay a contribution of 3.6% themselves. It is advisable to seek advice on this matter from the pension insurance institution and to enter in field 11 whether you wish to pay these pension insurance contributions.
Step 6
Now enter the start date of the employment relationship and the agreed monthly wage, and issue the direct debit mandate to the German Pension Insurance, thereby authorising the Minijobzentrale to collect the contributions due for your domestic help.
Step 7
In order to actually claim the tax savings of up to € 540 per year tax savings, you must enter the expenses for your domestic help on line 71 of the cover sheet for your tax return.
